If we're going to follow Jesus,
first we have to know what He said...
WHAT DID JESUS SAY?
Jesus says He is the light, the truth, the way, the life
Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying,
- “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12
- “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:31-32
- “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6
Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying,
- “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”- Mark 1:14-15
THE TIME IS FULFILLED
Jesus came to fulfill the teaching of the Old Testament
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” – Matthew 5:17
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” – Matthew 5:17
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND
Jesus taught constantly about a spiritual Kingdom (126 mentions in the four gospel accounts of his ministry).
- “My Kingdom is not of this world.” – John 18:36
- “Unless one is born again he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.” – John 3:3
- “But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
REPENT AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL
Jesus challenges the brokenness of our thoughts, our motives and our actions. He says eternal life is found in Him.
- REPENT: And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31–32
- BELIEVE: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:14-17
